Join us on April 24th as Riverview Community Bank and Waste Connections of Washington Inc. present an all day celebration of the Kiggins Theatre’s 80th Birthday!
We’ll be closing Main Street and starting the party at noon with a beer court (sponsored by Jordan Ramis PC, Attorneys at Law) that will run until 7pm. Admission to the garden is $5. The first 100 people will receive a special anniversary pint glass. $4 pints provided throughout the day by Heathen’s Beer Tap Fire Truck with guest taps from Trap Door, Loowit, Old Ivy and Trusty Brewing. Proceeds of the beer garden go to Choice Charities.
Our street party will also include a DJ from noon until 2pm, the Beacock Music Swing Band (brought to you by iQ Credit Union) will perform from 2pm until 6pm, and there will be face-painting, magic shows and much more!
But the fun is not all on the outside! We’ll also be showing great movies from 1936 on our big screen throughout the day!
At 2pm we will be showing the classic Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers musical SWING TIME! Doors are at 1:30pm for this show and all seats are $8.
Then at 4pm we have the Charlie Chaplin masterpiece MODERN TIMES! Tickets for this show are $19.36 and each admission comes with comes a large soda and popcorn combo.
Our main attraction begins at 6pm with an overview of the past, present and future of the Kiggins Theatre, followed by a screening of the Claudette Colbert-Melvyn Douglas screwball comedy SHE MARRIED HER BOSS which was the film that opened the Kiggins on this date back in 1936! Tickets for this screening are $80 and also includes admission to the beer garden, the two matinee films, a specialty cocktail, unlimited popcorn and soda for the entire day, hors d’oeuvres & desserts plus a special swag bag! This evening show is 21+.
All funds raised will go towards the Kiggins’ facelift campaign which will include new front doors, poster frames and much needed work on our box office!
We are very excited to announce the Kiggins Theatre 80th Birthday Celebration taking place April 23rd & 24th (the 24th is the actual Birthday of the Kiggins)! The weekend is going to include parties, screenings and more!
Leading up to the celebration we are trying to collect memorabilia from the Theatre’s colorful history. If you or someone you know has any collectibles from the past 80 years including old ticket stubs, posters, photos, or even old uniforms or props we would love to borrow them. We promise to take good care of them and will return them promptly.
We are also chronicling memories and stories to share as well. Have your first date at the Kiggins? See one of the Kiggins’ ghosts? Let us know!
Please contact email@example.com if you have anything you would like to share with us.
As any film fan is aware, the Academy Award nominations were announced this morning. We are pleased that the powerful ROOM was nominated for 4 awards, including Best Actress (Brie Larson), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director and Best Picture! ROOM is continuing for a third smash week, so if you haven’t seen it yet, you’ve got plenty of chances!
The acclaimed Turkish/French film MUSTANG was honored with a nomination for Best Foreign Language film. This film about sisterhood and female empowerment starts next Friday at the Kiggins, and we are partnering with the YWCA Clark County by contributing a percentage of bar and concession sales to their SafeChoice Domestic Violence Program.
One of our favorite programs each year is the OSCAR NOMINATED SHORT FILM programs! Opening January 29th for at least two weeks, we proudly present the world’s best Short Animated, Live Action and Documentary films! The full lineup (they usually programs some extra animation to go with the nominees) will be announced in the next several days so stay tuned.
Then starting on February 12th we open the nominee for Best Animated Feature film BOY AND THE WORLD. BOY is a riotous explosion of music and cold, a breathtaking original and vibrant cinematic experience depicting a modern world thru the eyes of a young boy.
So “Make Time for a Movie” and come visit us at the Kiggins soon!
“Of all the lifeforms, on all the planets, in all the galaxies one was chosen…”
A nearly forgotten classic of 1980’s video-game science fiction, THE LAST STARFIGHTER blasts onto our big screen on January 15th for a special 5 days run sponsored by our friends at Loowit Brewing!
Teen heartthrob Lance Guest, Catherine Mary Stewart (who also starred in NIGHT OF THE COMET that same year) and the MUSIC MAN himself Robert Preston star in this 1980’s sc-fi classic about a down on his luck video game wizard who finds himself recruited as a starship gunner for an alien defense force.
So fill your pockets with lots of quarters and head down to the Kiggins for the fun!
…and are pleased to present our 2015 Holiday movie lineup!
Starting on Saturday, December 5th, for 3 days only, we open the all-star comedy/drama CHRISTMAS EVE!
When a power outage traps six different groups of New Yorkers inside elevators these friends, strangers and co-workers are forced to learn about each other…and more importantly…themselves. Starring Patrick Stewart (channeling his inner Scrooge), Jon “Napoleon Dynamite” Heder, Curb Your Enthusiam‘s Cheryl Hines and Office Space‘s Gary Cole. Rated PG, this movie is fun for the whole family!
Then on December 11th we present two of the most quotable classic Christmas comedies, ELF and A CHRISTMAS STORY!
ELF stars Will Ferrell, James Caan and Zoey Deschanel. It’s an educational film, as you will learn what an Elf’s favorite foods are and how to cook make spaghetti with maple syrup! A CHRISTMAS STORY is a cautionary tale about gun control (“you’ll shoot your eye out!”), the causes of blindness (washing your mouth out with lye soap) and international trade (fragile leg lamp awards).
On December 18th we open two of the best known Christmas classics, the Technicolor musical masterpiece WHITE CHRISTMAS starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Vera-Ellen and Rosemary Clooney, and Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed in Frank Capra’s seminal IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE!
On Christmas Day, by popular demand, we present the 1942 classic CASABLANCA starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman (it is being pulled from theatrical release indefinitely on December 31st, so this may be your last chance to see it on the big screen!)
