Cyrano de Bergerac, in spite of the deformed ugliness of his great nose, proves to be a valiant adversary whether wielding words or a sword. In Ragueneau’s pastry shop, his cousin, the precious Roxane with whom he is secretly in love, reveals to him that she loves Christian. This young nobleman, who has all life’s gifts except for romantic eloquence, asks Cyrano to help him woo the young woman susceptible to poetic turns of phrase by prompting him with amorous phrases.
