May’s featured artist in the Kiggins’ lobby is Karan Wilson, with I’M READY FOR MY CLOSEUP: ICONS OF HOLLYWOOD’S GOLDEN AGE.

Mixed media artist Karan Wilson has been exercising her creative prowess in various forms with a career that spans more than 40 years. A resident of downtown Vancouver, Karan was inspired by the historic Kiggins Theatre to create this series of charcoal portraits representing Hollywood’s most beloved stars set against music from their most iconic cinematic features. Karan’s work is often inspired by nature, fantasy, literature, and popular culture, and includes pen & ink illustration, pottery, pyrography, poetry, sculpture, and most recently works in paint, charcoal, and colored pencil. Karan recently created a series representing the pioneers of 20th century jazz as a charitable benefit for the Historic Music Preservation Project. Her work is included in private collections across the globe and can be found on Instagram.

The exhibit will run from First Friday, May 6th until the First Friday in June.
